While collecting cans probably won’t make you a millionaire, it is a good source of extra income for some of your favorite charities, schools, and even yourself.

STEP 1
Find a buyer. Call your local recycle centers, and scrap metal dealers. Ask them if they buy aluminum cans, and how much they pay. Usually they pay by the pound. It takes about 32 empty twelve ounce cans, to equal one pound. Also ask them what their acceptance requirements are. Some places won’t take dirty cans, while others may require you to crush or flatten them before they’ll accept them.

STEP 2
Find locations that have unwanted cans. There are many places that want to get rid of cans. You can collect the cans that your family discards, and you can also collect cans from roadsides, parks, ditches, businesses, and organizations.

STEP 3.
Wear the right clothes. You’ll want to get some good shoes, long pants, gloves, and a dust mask.

STEP 4.
Get the right can collecting supplies. You’ll need a digging stick to rummage around with, antiseptic hand wipes, a strong plastic garbage bag to put the cans in, and a first aid kit in case you get cut by the aluminum.

STEP 5.
Collect the cans. Go to places that people visit in large groups, like events, and carnivals after the show. Store the cans outside, in a container with a lid, to keep the pests away.

STEP 6.
Trade cans for cash. Go to your local recycling center, and trade the cans for cash! Usually, the process involves showing your identification, weighing your cans, and collecting your money.

Collecting cans for money can be a minimal source of extra income, but when combined with the efforts of local organizations, it can be a very profitable business.

There are hundreds of different companies offering to pay the average person to complete various surveys and questionnaires. Usually, they use these surveys as market research to design new products and to see what certain demographic groups think about their existing products and services.

The primary thing you are looking for is maximum financing.
The secondary thing you are looking for is ways to improve the property.
The tertiary thing you are looking for is an area which may appreciate.

The primary and secondary things are critical, but the third is only if it is convenient. When you are pouring through property, you’ll want to get something out of your mind. You are not going to rely on the third thing, appreciation, for profit. You aren’t going to hope your property goes up in value; you’re going to make it go up.

While there are many ways to make property go up in value, the best way is to fix it. Buy a home which is in need of repair but is structurally sound. You want to be sure that the home is being rented currently. Mortgage should be covered by the rent received from the tenant after expenses are paid. Also be sure that the rent in the home you are looking at buying is a bit less than one week’s average wages in the area – it will rent very easily this way.

Repair the home, and then you should increase the rents. Since the property is now producing more income, its value is higher than before. Take note though not to fix the home too much; too much fixing does you no good. Repair things only which give you profit. If you put a dollar into repairs, it should increase the value of the home by at least two or more.

You can sell this home for a profit, but rather than sell it, you could exchange it as a down payment for a larger property. After all, your goal isn’t a one-time profit, but a stream of perpetual income. So, trade it in rather than sell it (trades avoid taxes). And repeat the process in your bigger property.

There are many other money making ideas in homes besides repairs. You can change the address to a more prestigious one, rezone the area, make the view better, etc.
