That’s right a day laborer. When you hear the term day laborer, you probably think of the illegal immigrants that you see on the corner standing around in groups waiting for someone to come by to offer them day wages for some some work that needs to be done.

Believe it or not, it’s pretty profitable for these guys who do that. If you’re the type of person who is willing to do manual labor to make some extra money then this might be the thing for you.

When I finished high school and started working full time, I wasn’t making a lot of money. I still wanted to go out with my friends on the weekend and have fun, but with the cost of living, that wasn’t possible unless I made some money on the side. Doing these types of odd jobs ( as I like to call them), helps to make it happen.

Think of what type of jobs you can do. If know how to do carpentry, then put a basic toolbox together. If your familiar with plumbing, well then set up your bag of tools and get ready to work. People who are looking for day laborers will select you for the job that they need done if you are prepared as well as ready, willing and able.

When you drive around your neighborhood look for a group of guys that are standing on the corner in the morning hours and most likely they’re there looking for work. Once you find the area the rest is quite easy.

Be sure to get to the location early in the morning with a cup of coffee and your toolbox in hand. People looking for help will stop by and negotiate a price for what they need. Sometimes it may be just to help clean put the garage or gut out an apartment that needs to have new sheetrock put in. Depending on the job and the time involved you can make a good day’s pay.

When people think of getting their hands on some money fast they don’t think of getting a second job since it is usually about two to three weeks before you even see a pay check, but what about those jobs that really don’t have you waiting.

Bartender – If you have the local pub in you area (and who doesn’t), you need to remember that most of the smaller pub or bars don’t really make the wild and crazy drinks that one would have to memorize to be a bartender. In most cases you have the typical beer drinker and who doesn’t know how to open a refrigerator and twist off the cap. Most of a bartenders money is made in tips which is there at the end of the night.

Baby-sitter – How many people do you know that have kids and want to get out for the night with their spouse? If you’re like me then your list is long. Put out the word that you want to make some extra cash and that your services are available.

Dog Walker – How many times have you seen someone walking more than one dog at a time. The person is most likely being paid to walk someone’s dog. The best way to increase your income and save time is to walk more than one at a time. Maybe you know someone who wants to go on vacation and need you to watch their pets while they’re away.
